Every year, the same thing happens. Guests who’ve been meaning to call since October reach out in late November and discover that the December slots they wanted are already booked. The holiday season is the busiest time of year at any salon, and at Ateliér Beauty, our most popular appointment windows fill weeks in advance.
If you want your hair to look exactly right for the moments that matter this season, the company party, the family gathering, the New Year’s celebration, November is when that plan starts.

Why Holiday Appointments Fill So Fast
The math is simple but easy to underestimate. December has roughly four weekends and the same number of weekday evenings. Our guest list is full, and the holiday season compresses everyone’s scheduling into the same short window. Guests who want color, a blowout, and a styling appointment for a specific event all need to time those services to land right, which means they’re competing for the same appointment slots, often in the same week.
Add in that many services need to be sequenced, color first, then a blowout a day or two before the event, and the planning window shrinks further.
The guests who always leave the holidays looking their best booked in November. That’s not coincidence.
What to Book and When
The right booking strategy depends on which services you need and when your key events fall. A general guide:
Color services (highlights, balayage, all-over color, glossing): Book these 24 weeks before your event or the holiday you’re preparing for. Color looks its best in the days following the appointment, and you’ll want it fresh for photos and occasions. If you’re doing a significant color change, plan for multiple appointments, book those now.
Blowout or styling appointment: Book this 12 days before your event. A blowout holds beautifully for 23 days with the right care, so timing matters.
Updo or special occasion styling: These appointments are the most time-sensitive. Book as early as possible, December styling appointments for New Year’s Eve and Christmas week are limited.
Extension maintenance: If you wear extensions, your maintenance schedule shouldn’t slip because of the holiday season, it should be planned around it. Book your November and December maintenance appointments now so your extensions look their best for holiday events.
Treatments (bond repair, hydrating mask, gloss): These can often be added onto a color or styling appointment. Ask when you book.
How to Plan Your Holiday Look
If you’re not sure exactly what you want for the holidays, a consultation is the right first step. Your stylist can look at where your hair is now, discuss what events you have coming up, and map out a plan, services, timing, and home care, that gets your hair exactly where you want it.
A few questions worth thinking about before you call:
- What are the specific dates of your key events?
- Are you wearing your hair up or down for most of them?
- Is there a color update you’ve been considering that you’d like in place for the season?
- Are extensions something you’d like to have for holiday events?
- How much time are you realistically willing to spend on styling at home?
The answers to these questions shape the whole plan. Your stylist will use them to build a realistic, timed approach that takes the guesswork out of the season.
The Styles We’re Seeing Most for Holiday 2026
If you want a direction to bring to your appointment, here’s what’s resonating most with our guests this holiday season:
- Polished blowouts, smooth, high-shine, effortless. The foundation for most holiday looks.
- Soft, romantic updos, loose, textured updos that look elegantly undone rather than rigidly formal.
- Sleek low bun or ponytail, a clean, editorial choice that pairs beautifully with statement earrings and elevated fashion.
- Loose waves with defined texture, for guests who want a down style that reads festive without requiring an updo.
Reference photos are always helpful. Bring three to five images that capture the vibe you’re after and your stylist will work from there.
