Hair Extensions

Whether you’re looking for fullness, volume, or a little extra ease in your routine, these thoughtfully chosen extension methods are designed to move with you and feel like your own.

Taped In

Tape-in extensions are a versatile and lightweight option ideal for all hair types—especially fine or thin hair. At Ateliér, we use Amplify Tape-In Extensions, designed for a seamless blend, secure hold, and gentle wear.

These extensions are applied in a sandwich-like pattern using a waterproof adhesive that bonds sections of extension hair with your natural hair in between. They’re easy to maintain, lay flat against the scalp, and offer flexible styling with minimal tension.

We prioritize the health of your hair, using a professional-grade hair steamer and oil-based remover to gently release the extensions—no pulling, no damage. Tape-ins are reusable with fresh adhesive and available in a variety of textures and qualities.

Application Time: 2+ hours (Partial head available)
Maintenance: Adjustments every 4–6 weeks
Best For: All hair types

Handtied

Hand Tied Wefts offer a seamless, natural look with maximum fullness. These ultra-thin, hand-sewn wefts lie flat and close to the scalp, ideal for an all-over thick appearance without bulk.

Application Time: 2+ hours (Partial applications available)
Maintenance: Removal and reapplication every 3–4 months
Best For: All hair types

I Tip

I-Tip extensions are applied strand-by-strand using a silicone-lined bead—no heat, glue, or chemicals required. Each extension lays flat and secure, offering comfort and a natural feel.

Application Time: 2–4 hours
Maintenance: Adjustments every 6–8 weeks; reusable
Best For: Most hair types, especially those seeking a heat-free, adhesive-free option

K Tip

K-Tip extensions are individually bonded using a gentle heating element to soften a keratin tip—made of the same protein found naturally in your hair—for a strong, flexible hold.

Application Time: 3+ hours
Maintenance: Non-reusable; reapplication every 3–4 months
Best For: Medium to thick hair or those seeking a more permanent strand-by-strand option

Combline (Coming Soon)

Combline offers a discreet solution for thinning areas using surgical-grade adhesive to bond individual hairs—like lash extensions for your hair. It's lightweight, undetectable, and perfect for the fringe, crown, and sides.

Application Time: 1–2 hours
Maintenance: Reapplication every 6–8 weeks
Best For: Guests with thinning or sparse areas seeking a natural, flexible solution

Extension Process

The Process Is Simple. The Transformation Is Everything.

1. Consultation and color match

Start with a 15-minute consultation to discuss your goals, match your color and texture, and recommend the best extension method for your hair. You’ll leave with a personalized plan and custom price quote.

2. Purchase Extensions

Once we’ve chosen your perfect match, we’ll place your custom extension order and reserve your install with a hair deposit. When your extensions arrive, we’ll schedule your appointment.

3. Come in for Extension Install

Your stylist will expertly place and blend your extensions for a seamless, natural look. Only the stylist’s hourly rate is due at the time of service.

4. Fall in love with yourself

Once your extensions are installed and blended to perfection, you’ll leave the salon feeling like the most confident version of yourself. This moment is about more than just hair. It’s about seeing yourself in a whole new light.

5. Come back for a move up

As your hair grows, we’ll adjust your extensions to keep everything feeling fresh, weightless, and flawlessly blended—so you keep falling in love, again and again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ateliér Beauty offers a full range of professional extension methods designed to enhance your natural hair with seamless, customizable results. Each transformation begins with a personalized consultation where your stylist will evaluate your goals, hair health, and lifestyle to create your ideal look.

Consultation & Expectations

Which type of extensions are right for me?

Traditional facials provide hydration, maintenance and relaxation. Advanced treatments use high-performance ingredients (like glycolic or enzymes) to target specific issues like acne, aging, or pigmentation.

Can my stylist combine different methods?

Yes. In some cases, your stylist may recommend a combination of techniques to achieve the most natural and balanced results. For example, using one method for volume and another for seamless length allows for full customization while maintaining the health and integrity of your hair.

Can I get extensions if I’m taking GLP-1 medications (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, etc.)?

Some medications can temporarily affect hair growth and strength. If you’re taking one, please mention it during your consultation. Your stylist will evaluate your hair’s current health to ensure it’s strong enough for safe wear and removal.

Are there other health or hair conditions that might limit candidacy?

Yes. Excessive shedding, active scalp conditions, or fragile hair caused by hormonal changes, postpartum hair loss, or medical treatments (such as chemotherapy or thyroid imbalance) may temporarily make extensions unsuitable. Your stylist can help determine when your hair is ready.

How long can my extensions be?

For the most natural and healthy results, we follow the guideline of adding no more than double your natural hair length. Excessive length can add too much weight, create blending challenges, and risk stress on your natural hair. Your stylist will guide you toward a balanced, believable length that keeps your hair healthy.

What happens during the consultation?

Your stylist will review inspiration photos, discuss goals, match color and density, and create a customized plan. You’ll receive a detailed quote for the hair, installation, and maintenance plan.

Pricing & Investment

What is the price range for extensions?

Pricing varies based on your natural hair, desired transformation, and chosen method:
  • Volume or Fill-In Options: $400–$800 for partial enhancements or added fullness.
  • Full Transformations: $1,200–$3,000+ for added length and density.

Your stylist will provide an exact quote at your consultation.

How is payment structured?

The cost of the hair is paid at the time of booking to custom-match and order your extensions.

Your installation fee, based on your stylist’s hourly rate, is paid the day of your appointment.

Because each order is personalized, all hair purchases are non-refundable once placed.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Ateliér Beauty partners with Cherry, offering flexible monthly payments so you can enjoy your new look now and pay over time.

How much does maintenance cost?

Maintenance typically ranges $150–$400, depending on the method and amount of hair. Most guests return every 6–10 weeks for adjustments.

Why is regular maintenance so important?

Consistent maintenance supports the long-term health of your hair and scalp. Regular move-ups prevent matting, tension, and buildup, keeping the extensions comfortable and secure. Skipping maintenance can cause unnecessary stress on your natural hair and shorten the life of your extensions.

Why do prices vary?

Each extension service is fully customized based on your desired look, chosen method, amount of hair, blending time, and your stylist’s experience level.

Maintenance & Longevity

How long will my extensions last?

With professional maintenance and proper home care, the hair can last 6 months to over a year, depending on the method and your lifestyle.

How often do I need maintenance?

Move-ups or reapplications are needed every 6–10 weeks to maintain proper placement and scalp health.

Will extensions damage my natural hair?

When professionally installed and maintained, extensions should not cause damage. Our stylists use precise, safe techniques that protect your natural hair’s integrity.

Can I color or tone my extensions?

Your stylist can gloss or tone your extensions in-salon. At-home coloring or lightening is not recommended, as it can compromise the quality of the hair.

Lifestyle & Care

Can I work out, swim, or travel with extensions?

Yes — with proper care. Before swimming, wet your hair with clean water and apply a leave-in conditioner to minimize chlorine or salt absorption. Always rinse and dry the attachment area afterward.

Can sunscreen affect my extensions?

Yes. Sunscreens containing avobenzone can cause discoloration. Use mineral-based, avobenzone-free sunscreen and wash hands before touching your hair after application.

Can makeup or bronzer discolor my extensions?

Yes. Certain products such as self-tanners, liquid bronzers, and oil-based foundations can transfer onto extensions — particularly lighter blonde tones — and cause staining or buildup. To prevent this, apply makeup before styling, avoid applying tinted products directly along your hairline, neck, or shoulders, and wash hands thoroughly before touching or brushing your extensions. If buildup occurs, your stylist can recommend a professional cleansing treatment to safely restore brightness.

What products should I use?

Always use professional, sulfate-free products recommended by your stylist. Quality shampoo, conditioner, and heat protectant extend the life and softness of your extensions.

How should I sleep with extensions?

Never sleep with wet hair. Loosely braid or secure it in a low ponytail, and sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase to minimize tangling and friction.

Results & Realism

Will my extensions look natural?

Absolutely. Each set is color-matched, custom-blended, and precisely placed to ensure your extensions move and feel like your own hair.

What if I decide extensions aren’t for me?

That’s completely fine. We’ll remove them safely and help you transition your hair back to its natural state or explore other options that may better suit your lifestyle.

I am constantly getting compliments on my hair! I’ve been going to Emily for years and no one can tell they’re extensions! She’s really knowledgeable about color matching, care, and installing. I had her recently do my hair for my wedding too.

Thank you Emily for always making me feel so pretty ♥️ and also worth noting Emily is SO fun to chat with during my appointments.

Extension Home Care Guide

Your investment, protected.

Maintain the health, beauty, and longevity of your extensions with these daily care practices.

Your extensions are an investment in confidence and style. With proper care and professional maintenance, they’ll stay soft, beautiful, and healthy for months to come.

Daily Care

  • Brush gently 2–3 times per day, starting at the ends and working upward with an extension brush or soft-bristle brush.
  • Support the base while brushing to reduce tension at attachment points.
  • Avoid brushing wet hair. Detangle gently before washing and again after drying.
  • Secure before bed: Loosely braid or tie in a low ponytail to prevent tangling.
  • Sleep on silk or satin to minimize friction and preserve smoothness.

Washing + Conditioning

Suggested Wash Routine

Your scalp oils and styling habits will determine how often you need to wash, but most guests find this rhythm works well:

  • Day 1: Full wash and blow dry.
  • Day 2–3: Refresh with curls or light touch-up styling.
  • Day 4: Wash or refresh only the top and front (“halo wash”) to extend time between full washes.
  • Day 5–6: Restyle or wear in a low, smooth style before your next full wash.

Aim to wash every 3–5 days depending on your lifestyle and hair type. Washing too often can dry out extensions, while waiting too long can lead to oil buildup near the scalp.

How to Wash

  • Detangle before washing to prevent matting.
  • Use sulfate-free, extension-safe shampoo and conditioner recommended by your stylist.
  • Gently massage the scalp between rows or bonds using your fingertips (never nails).
  • Apply conditioner from mid-lengths to ends only; avoid the bonds or wefts.
  • Rinse thoroughly and finish with a cool rinse to help seal the cuticle.

Dry Shampoo

  • A lightweight, extension-safe dry shampoo is perfect for refreshing between washes.
  • Apply at the scalp only — avoid spraying directly on bonds, beads, or wefts.
  • Avoid heavy starches or alcohol-based formulas that can dull or dry the extensions.
  • Your stylist can recommend the best dry shampoo for your specific method.

Drying + Styling

  • Gently squeeze out excess water with a towel — never rub.
  • Apply a leave-in conditioner and heat protectant before blow drying or styling.
  • Always blow-dry the attachment area completely to prevent moisture buildup or slippage.
  • Keep heat tools below 350°F and avoid direct heat on bonds, beads, or tapes.
  • Use only professional styling products; avoid oils or silicone-based serums near the roots.

Sleeping

  • Never sleep with wet hair.
  • Loosely braid or secure your hair in a low ponytail before bed.
  • Use a silk pillowcase or silk-lined bonnet to reduce friction and preserve the integrity of your extensions.
  • Avoid cotton pillowcases, which can cause tangling and dryness.

Exercise + Sweat

  • Tie hair back during workouts to prevent tangling and sweat buildup.
  • Rinse or dry the attachment area afterward to keep the scalp clean and healthy.
  • Apply a light leave-in conditioner before hot yoga or gym sessions to protect from salt in perspiration.

Swimming + Sun Exposure

  • Before swimming, wet your hair with clean water and apply a leave-in conditioner to minimize chlorine or salt absorption.
  • Rinse and wash immediately after swimming, and always dry the attachment area thoroughly.
  • Avoid letting extensions air-dry after swimming — moisture near the base can loosen bonds.
  • Sunscreen caution: Avoid sunscreens with avobenzone — they can discolor extensions. Choose mineral-based, avobenzone-free formulas and wash hands before touching your hair.
  • Limit prolonged UV exposure to prevent dryness and color fade.

Maintenance + Follow-Up

  • Schedule move-ups or maintenance every 6–10 weeks, depending on your method and hair growth.
  • Regular trims keep ends healthy and prevent tangling.
  • Let your stylist know if you notice any slipping, matting, or irritation so adjustments can be made early.
  • Use only stylist-recommended products to maintain hair integrity and warranty coverage.
